After this interview I went to Seats2Meet place in the city, where I worked, had lunch and exchanged social value with the people there. Watch out, this is not a nice way to say that I chit-chatted :) I met a professional designer who is considering a career in design management, and I put her in touch with a company I visited last Monday near Utrecht which doing exactly this! I think I created value for both parties!
Then I headed to Rijswijk where I met Paul Manuel of Tam Tam digital agency. I got Paul’s contact last week from Bas van de Haterd who I met for this project. In his company Paul created a virtuous system to help his employees improve their curriculum and realize their entrepreneurial dreams. Even if it looks counter-intuitive, in Paul’s experience this has a great impact on acquiring top skilled personnel, keeping them for a good period of time and maintaining a good relationship after they leave. And for those trying to start up a business, Tam Tam offers all the support they can in terms of space, connectivity, networking, and in some cases also financing. Tam Tam has its own in-house incubator where startups live and interact. The value for Tam Tam is that they remain connected to top talents and possible business relationships flourish among the new companies and with Tam Tam itself. So it’s not about renting space, nor about creating just a happy community, it’s about business, creating the opportunities for new business to happen.
